Verify Carrier
Is this carrier allowed to haul this load, today?
Not "does it look fine". The authority that matters for the role you are hiring, the coverage the load actually requires, and what the registry said the last time it said anything.
What gets checked
Authority, by kind
Common, contract and broker authority are three separate facts, each with its own granted status, pending application and pending revocation. A revoked broker authority does not revoke carrier authority, and an authority about to be revoked is not yet revoked.
Insurance: required against on file
Two stored figures per coverage kind — what the operation requires and what is actually on file. The gap is a subtraction, not a judgement. A missing on-file figure reads UNKNOWN, never zero.
Safety, inspections, out-of-service
Rating and review with their dates, inspection history and out-of-service records. Each carries the time its source last updated it — an unknown timestamp stays unknown rather than being filled with the time we happened to read it.
Identity, resolved not guessed
USDOT and MC resolve exactly. A name resemblance never merges two carriers: if two are plausible you see both, ranked, and a person chooses. MC, MX and FF share one number space, so an unprefixed number is reported ambiguous.
Then it keeps watching
A check is true at a moment. Authority lapses mid-load, coverage expires on a Friday, a payment instruction changes the day before pickup.
Monitoring records changes at field level — what the value was, what it became, when it was observed — across fifteen categories, and you subscribe to the ones you care about instead of all or none.
